Junior Coaster 400 at Luna Park in Coney Island

Luna Park wanted to specifically target families, but it also needed to get the most out of their investment by creating an experience that maximized capacity.

After working through several potential concepts the company felt an Integrated Rides package with a Super Flumez and Junior Coaster 400 was the perfect fit. The resulting ride is one of the largest broad appeal coasters to open at the fabled amusement playgrounds in decades. Riders 90 cm (36 in) tall can ride the coaster, while they need to be 105 cm (42 in) to enjoy the Super Flumez.

We worked with the park to provide the throwback theming. The feel of the area is Coney Island around 1905 when Luna Park, Steeplechase and Dreamland were all adorned in white incandescent lights. The simple Victorian aesthetic suits the area well and the theme is taken even to the coaster, where a custom light package was designed that attaches the programmable LED’s to the track.

“My family has been blessed to work in the amusement industry for over five generations, and it is truly a humbling moment to be able to honor my late grandparents with Tony’s Express and Leti’s Treasure. The intertwining attractions celebrate Coney Island’s history as well as my grandparents’ relationship that inspired our family’s spirit of continuous innovation.”
